Word 2007: Creating a simple document and use of various text formatting techniques.

Title: To create a document in Word 2007 and used various text formatting tools.

Tools/Software Used: Microsoft Word 2007

Discretion/Theory: Creating a simple document and use of various text formatting techniques.

Procedure:

1)      Click Start à Microsoft Office Word 2007 to launch Word 2007.
2)      Click the Dialog box launcher of the page setup group in the page layout.
3)      Set top, bottom, left, right margins to 0.75’’, 1.2’’, 0.9’’, 0.9’’ respectively. Click OK button to close the dialog box
Simple text and Paragraph formatting:
4)      Type a few paragraphs from your text book
5)      In the Style gallery home tab Click a Title
6)      Place the cursor on the sub heading ‘The Himalayan Rivers’ and give heading 2 style.
7)      Double click the format paint button to activate as it changes it’s colour
Including a Table in word document:
8)      Click on  the insert table option in the dropdown box. In the insert table dialog box that opens use of spinners to change the no of columns to 3 and rows 12 and click OK

9)      Select the first column cells containing the river names and the second column cells containing the numbers, click the sort button in the data group of the layout tab. In sort dialog box opens click OK button

Formatting Text as Superscript and subscript:
10)   Select superscript and subscript buttons from front group of home ribbon.
In right angle triangle ABC With side AC as the hypotenuse, AC2=AB2+BC2.
(x+3)(x2+8x-5)=x(x2+8x-5)+3(x2+8x-5)=x3+11x2+19x-15
Hydrogen and oxygen are common elements in the compounds C12H22O11, H2SO4, NaOH and H2O2
Magnesium oxide sparingly dissolves in water to form weak base :
MgO + H2O Mg (OH)2

11)   Insert an arrow symbol à after H2O on the last line Click Symbols àMore Symbols of the symbols group of the insert tab
12)   Finally click Save from the Office Button menu. You will see the save as Dialog Box. Navigate the appropriate folder, as directed by your teacher. In the file name text box type a suitable file name. Click on the save button
13)   Close the Program window.

Title:  Excel 2007 Creating a spreadsheet.

Tools/Software used: Microsoft Excel 2007

Description/Theory: Practical 4 Excel 2007 Creating a spreadsheet

Procedure:

1)      Click Start à Microsoft Office Excel 2007 to launch Excel 2007
Creating a Worksheet:
2)      Click on a cell A3 and type the title ‘TERMINAL EXAMINATION 2012-13 STD IX’.
3)      Create the following mark sheet as given in excel
4)      For total type the following formula in formula bar of cell G6
5)      =C6+D6+E6+F6+G6
6)      With cell pointer on cell H6 hold down the Ctrl key and drag the cell handle up to cell H10
7)      For percentage type the following formula  in formula bar of cell I6
8)      =H6/5
Formatting a worksheet for visual appeal
9)      Select cell I10 and click the dialog box launcher of the number group of the home tab
10)   And format the worksheet as given in diagram

Title:  Excel 2007 Creating a chart from spreadsheet data

Tools/Software used: Microsoft Excel 2007

Description/Theory: To create a chart in excel from spreadsheet data

Procedure:

1)    Click start à Microsoft office Excel 2007 to launch Excel 2007
2)    Design the table in excel as given below
3)    To calculate total length select the cells (B4:B13) and select Sum function from editing group
4)    To calculate to average length select the cells (B4:B13) and select Avg  function from editing group
5)    To calculate maximum length select the cells (B4:B13) and select Max function from editing group

Creating a Chart
6)    Select the cells A3 to B13 and click the bar icon in the charts group of insert tab. From dropdown chart gallery, select the clustered bar in 3-D as the chart type.

Title:  Power Point 2007: Creating simple presentation
Tools/Software used: Microsoft Power Point  2007
Description/Theory: To create slides on science in power point and present it as a slide show
Procedure:
1)      Gather important points on Rutherford’s discovery of the atomic nucleus from your science text book
Creating the Slide Master:
2)      Click Startà Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 to launch Power Point 2007.
3)      Click the view tab and then click the slide master button in the presentation views group
4)      Apply a theme and background style using the edit theme and background groups on the active slide master tab
Creating the slides:
5)      The title has two text placeholders. Click inside the top place holder and type the title of your presentation.
6)      In the second place holder type your name.
7)      Create the subsequent slides one by one.
Applying slide transition:
8)      After you have created your all the slides of your presentation, in the normal view click the slides tab of the Outline/Slide pane and click on my slide thumbnail
9)      Click the Animation tab on the ribbon. The Transition To This Slide group lets you set the transition effect that is used when the slide is displayed during a slide show.
Running the slide show:
10)   Press the function key F5 or select the slide show tab on the Ribbon  From Beginning button of the Start Slide Show Group
Saving the Presentation
11)   To save your presentation, clicks save from the Office Button menu. You will see the save as dialog box. Navigate to appropriate folder, as directed by your teacher. In the file name text box, type a suitable file name text box, type a suitable file name.

Google Maps: Locating a place and navigating directions to reach it

Title: To locate a place and get directions (route) to reach it using a web – based mapping service.
Tools/Software Used:  Internet Explorer
Discretion/Theory: Creating a simple document and use of various text formatting techniques.
Procedure:
1)      Launch Internet Explorer by clicking on the desktop of on the quick launch tool bar on the Taskbar
2)      The current home page of the Internet Explorer (IE) will open in the Internet Explorer window
3)      Open Google page by typing URL www.google.co.in

4)      On the Google service option bar, just below the command bar, click on maps to go to the web page of Google Maps as shown in figure
5)      Eg. Type Ajanta Caves in the search box above the map window and click on search button or press enter key.
6)      Click on small icon of satellite on top right corner to see satellite map of the region.
7)      In order to get road route to Ajanta caves from Aurangabad city Click on the Get Direction button on the left pane. In the two boxes A and B that appear , enter the starting location in Box A(Aurangabad city) and destination location in box B(Ajanta Caves).
8)      When you ate finished, click on the Close button on the Title bar to close the window and exit the browser.

Title: Practical 6 Internet Explorer : Introduction and browsing websites
Tools/Software used: Internet Explorer
Description/Theory:  To familiarize with a web browser window and use a web browser to access various websites.
Procedure:
1)      Launch Internet Explorer by clicking on the desktop or on the quick launch tool bar on the Task Bar
2)      The current home page of the Internet Explorer (IE) will open in the Internet Explorer window
3)      Identify the various components of the IE window as shown below


















Accessing visiting Websites:
4)      In the address bar click on the URL to highlight it and type in the URL www.nasa.gov  that you will be visiting. Click on Go or press Enter key (The protocol Http:// appears automatically in the address bar so we need not type it.)
5)      Internet Explorer will start downloading the home page of NASA
6)      The Home Page has several interesting links to other web pages of the site.
7)      Similarly, type the following URLs to visit the respective websites
8)      Computer Ethics: http://www.iccp.org/coe

Title:  To use a search engine to search for desired information on the World Wide Web (WWW)
Tools/Software Used:  Internet Explorer
Discretion/Theory: Creating a simple document and use of various text formatting techniques.
Procedure:
1)      Launch Internet Explorer by clicking on the desktop of on the quick launch tool bar on the Taskbar
2)      The current home page of the Internet Explorer (IE) will open in the Internet Explorer window
3)      In a search bar of any search engine type “popular search engines” and click the search button, or press enter key. Page will display several link of search engines

4)      Open Google and type ‘nasa home’  in the text box and click on search
5)      www.nasa.gov will open
6)      To save the URL of the page clock on Favorites on the menu bar of the internet explorer window. From drop down menu click on add to favorites.
7)      This will open add to favorite dialog box and click on ADD
